Traveling to Burma

On this page we don't want to provide that kind of travel information about Burma that you can easily acquire from any travel agency. While business corporations will most likely be interested in you as a paying customer, we wish to focus our attention on how tourism affects the well-being of the broader Burmese population. The potential influence of tourism on developing countries is beyond doubt. The question, however, remains as to whether the profit would justify the damages and whether tourism would promote political and social transformation or, on the contrary, rather deepen inequalities between geographical regions, ethnic groups, and social classes.

We have also developed a website where you can report any issue in Burma that is a result of tourism: Myanmar Tourism Watch

For Burmese speakers there is some general information for awareness raising about tourism in Burma.
