Indian Base for the Transformation of Burma

This project has been authorized for 3 years of operation, 2012-14. It responds to the dramatic situation of Burmese refugees living in Delhi and Northeast India and the famine in Chin State, in Northwestern Burma. The important position of India as partner of the Burmese regime and as the world’s largest democracy led to the conclusion, that support for democracy in Burma should be increased also from Burma’s Western side.

The main activity aims at establishing and supporting professional structures in India that promote the transition of Burma to a democracy, partly by networking with other civil society organizations and capacity building for activists and journalists.
